We are monitoring the COVID-19 situation as it changes daily.
The protocols listed below are what are currently in place but could be changed if the situation warrants it:
Masks – Any unvaccinated adults on campus must wear a mask. Masks are optional for vaccinated adults.
Masks are mandated for elementary students unless the parent has opted not to have students wear a mask. Please call the office for details on how to sign the Opt-Out form
Hand washing – throughout the day, recorded
Wiping hard surfaces – throughout the day, recorded
High-quality air filters – changed monthly
Classroom separations – The Montessori way of learning does not lend itself to social distancing; children cannot sit in desks surrounded by a plastic shield. That being said, we will be doing modified “bubbles” (e.g., preschool/kindergarten will go out to play by classroom as will the elementary students). Commingling will occur at 3:00 p.m. in after-school care, 3:00-5:00 p.m. Blue, Red, and Yellow Rooms will join. Elementary will join 3:00-5:00 p.m. All school children will be together in lower level building from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Elementary and preschool/kindergarten will be in separate rooms.
Masks are mandatory for music and singing for the elementary/middle school students. A child may opt out of these classes if the parents don’t want their child to wear a mask for these lessons.
Maintaining these protocols looks to the safety of our school community while respecting the individual’s right to decide. As previously stated, we will adapt and inform you should changes be made. Our protocols for exposure to Covid and/or travel are posted as flow charts at the Maitland Montessori School website in the Parent Portal under Resource Documents.
We ask that you please help us help you by being conscientious about the exposure you have as a family outside of school hours.
Sincerely,
Adele Fondo, M.Ed.
